Denmark

Denmark is the most difficult destination to see with fresh eyes, precisely because we live here. But the distance between the known and the unknown is shorter than most people think: an hour from the highway lies landscapes that few Danes have ever set foot in.

We cover the country as a destination, not as a home base. Black sun over the marsh is one of Europe's great natural phenomena and occurs twice a year a few kilometers from the German border. The largest islands in Denmark show how differently a small country can behave from coast to coast, and Lolland-Falster is becoming something different than the region has been in a generation.

Part of it is due to infrastructure. The Fehmarnbelt Tunnel will move Hamburg closer to Copenhagen than Aarhus is today, and that changes the equation for both the weekend trip and the long drive south.

The light is pulling north. North Jutland and Skagen have lived off it since the painters arrived, and the tables have followed suit: the Michelin restaurants in Denmark are no longer just in the capital. If you want it all at once, beautiful places in Denmark bring together the strongest cards.

The entire country, region by region, is located on our comprehensive page about Denmark.
