Anguilla - close to the US in the Caribbean
Anguilla is one of the small “delicious” islands in the eastern Caribbean and the northernmost island in the Leeward Island chain only 17 km north of St. Martin and 340 km east of Puerto Rico with direct flights from e.g. England or a stop-over in Puerto Rico. Or you could leave from NY in the morning and arrive in the afternoon, the transport is not worse and not at all if it is part of a cruise.
Anguilla - a small unspoilt tropical island
Being left alone as the island notoriously does has meant that the island has retained its origin without losing the amenities expected on a rather exclusive Caribbean holiday island.
It is, as indicated, a small island: only 26 km from east to west 5 km from north to south (a good morning run including return trips?). It is a beautiful and fairly flat island with lots of coral in the sea and diving opportunities and cliffs with shady vegetation. Rent a car for a day and find the perfect lagoon for snorkeling diving and picnics with the large beach towel spread out on the white beach. Life is good.

Anguilla is the island of beautiful beaches, no less than 33 of them. And they are on the best “me here and there beach lists on the internet” so it is good enough. All beaches are public and there is plenty of space.
There are an astonishing number of good restaurants, some with international recognition, and there is enough nightclubbing and beach parties for anyone who wants the good life.

Anguilla has an average temperature of 26 degrees C. and plenty of sunshine all year round. It rains a little in September and October and February to March is the “dry season” on Anguilla.
