The legendary island of Milos has a truly unique history in Greece
Do you remember the famous sculpture of Aphrodite, named Venus from Milo? On your travels to Greece around the many islands, Milos is incredibly exciting.
The ancient Greek sculpture of Aphrodite, currently on permanent display at the Louvre in Paris, may be the island’s most famous export, but Milos is a strikingly colorful island due to its volcanic origins. The color of the Aegean Sea surrounding this Cycladic island ranges from cobalt blue to emerald green, and the rocks range from pink to red to violet. Milos is full of natural and man-made surprises. The island is perforated with white rivers, sulfur-yellow striped cliffs, and black obsidian cliffs.
The unique geology has given the island a large number of beautiful beaches, over 70 beaches in total, and the glorious hot springs along the coast are a must-see.
Milos has the most diverse and dramatic coastline of all the Greek islands.
Milos attracts with the beautiful beach Sarakiniko
Sarakiniko
The beautiful and unique white beach of Sarakiniko is located in the north of Milos. It is not a large beach and due to its natural beauty and accessibility it can be quite busy during the high season. The beach is sandwiched between beautiful, almost polished white rocks, probably from calcium minerals. When you see the sea, you want to walk around these milky rocks on the right side of the beach, which form a kind of small labyrinth, giving you a special feeling of walking on the moon.
You can explore a few tunnels carved into the rock on the left side of the beach. A few meters out into the sea you will also find a cliff about five meters high from which you can dive into the sea if you want. The water close to the beach is quite shallow until you reach the entrance of the bay.

The location itself is reason enough to come. The theater, which belonged to the ancient city of Klima, was first built in Hellenistic times in the 3rd century BC. and had to be reconstructed after the city was destroyed in Roman times by the Athenians.
